It is hard to believe that we are approaching the end of the third quarter of this academic school year! So much has transpired since August. We have learned so much and have grown in so many ways! But, we have so much more to learn!
Congratulations to our Class of 2018! Every student was accepted to the first choice high school of choice! That is a great accomplishment! In addition, five of our eighth graders received renewable scholarships for academic excellence to NDCL. And for the first time during my tenure, every eighth grader received academic honors for the second quarter! This is quite an amazing class!
Our renewable resource green house is progressing. This past week two guests from Chardon Zoning and Planning Department came to speak to our junior high students to explain the process. Thank you to Mr. Scott Yaney for sharing his expertise and time with our students. We also have a good number of dowels completed with the clear plastic bottles. Thank you for your contributions! Each bottle is much needed and greatly appreciated! Keep them coming!
One Book One Hall has begun again this year at St. Mary School. All the students from preschool through fifth grade will read “Mr. Popper’s Penguins” by Richard and Florence Atwater. Along with the read, many STEM activities are planned both across the curriculum and across grade levels. The excitement is contagious! I cannot wait to see the projects that the students create! Everything will be on display at our annual Learning Fair on April 19th.
Next week our sixth graders will be off campus at the Cuyahoga Valley National Educational Center. Their days and some nights will be spent exploring, researching, and studying various biomes, habitats, and habitats. This is STEM in action! Thank you Mrs. Fedak for planning and coordinating this trip for our students and also giving up her own family time to be with them for four nights and five days! Please keep our students and teachers in your prayers so that they all return safely.
Teacher requested conferences are presently underway. It is a time for taking inventory of student’s strengths and weaknesses before the end of this school year.
Congratulations to all of our Confirmande, who will receive the sacrament on Monday, March 12th. Please keep them in your prayers.
Joyfully in Christ,
