At the end of last school year our Student Council ran a campaign for president. Speeches were presented to the student body, voting was conducted and ballots counted. This school year we have two fine young women as our Student Council Co- Presidents, Kaylie Malloy and Melanie Schaefer. To help these officers with the many projects and duties that our Student Council chairs every year, we are presently in the midst of a campaign for the rest of the officers. Speeches were presented after our all school Mass on Friday followed by voting for the various positions. We are blest at St. Mary School to have such great student leaders among us!
Our Preschool students joined us this week for classes! The preschool has moved location and is now in our building in the early education wing. We are so glad to have them as part of our school – physically! The Pre-Kindergarten program will now include classes in library, music, and physical education with our day school “specials” teachers. The preschool has two beautifully refinished classrooms and a special area with cubbies, hooks, and a bench for coats, hats, and mittens. Mrs. Flynn and Mrs. Rowan did a beautiful job decorating and setting up the spaces to foster optimal learning for our preschoolers.
On Monday, September 15th at 9:15 am we will practice our evacuation drill. Our school evacuates to the LGIR room at Chardon Middle School. This is a drill. In the event of a real situation, student pick up / dismissal would also be from that school. This drill is mandated by the State of Ohio.
September 11th changed the course of history of our United States. Please keep in prayer, this weekend, all who lost their lives in this event. As a school we prayed for our United States and the heroes both living and deceased.
