Old Man Winter gifted us with another snow day this past week. I am sure that everyone was grateful not to have had to travel in the inclement weather. We are hoping that this will be the last one! One can only hope!
St. Mary School held an internal spelling bee from which the winner was sent to our district meet at
NDES. Congratulations to Melanie Schafer, one of our seventh graders for winning our school spelling bee!
We have a busy week planned coming up! This week is National Random Act of Kindness Week. We are practicing being kind and caring as a school and individually.
Monday morning at 9:00 am I will be meeting with the four-year Old Preschooler parents for a Coffee Talk. Please note the time change! I am looking forward to meeting with you and chatting about your ideas and concerns.
St. Mary School is at the point of the Accreditation Cycle where our first progress report is due. Ms.
Susan Pohly, superintendent of the eastern region will be visiting our school on Wednesday. She will
confirm our verification of standards before the report is submitted to OCSAA in March. We welcome
her to our school!
Also on Wednesday, our junior high students will participate in a program hosted by Akron University on Polymer Sciences. They are looking forward to this area of STEM study!
Wednesday evening from 6-7:30 pm. we will be registering preschoolers for the next academic school year. Children must be three or four years old by September 30th. Little Scholars Academy of St. Mary has an excellent reputation both in the community and the diocese. Space is limited so please make sure you come and register your child.
Our fourth graders have been selected to participate in a testing program for a national study. The
NAEP will be at St. Mary School on Thursday to conduct the testing. Thank you to Miss Dorka, our fourth grade teacher for organizing the details.
Our students will enjoy a long weekend. Friday our teachers have an in-house diocesan staff
development day. On Monday we will all enjoy a day off for President’s Day. Wishing everyone a safe
and relaxing long weekend!
Good luck to our Science Olympiad team. Mrs. Yeager, our junior high science teacher, the team, and
the volunteer coaches will travel to Mentor High School to compete on Saturday, February 14th. We are very proud of these students and their commitment and effort to this event!
