This weekend we begin our annual Catholic Schools Week celebration. It is a week that we recognize our Catholic students, parents, and teachers, as well as all of our friends and supporters. It is a week of making memories, prayer, and activities. We begin this Sunday with our Opening Catholic Schools Week Mass at 10 am. We are also serving a delicious pancake breakfast for our families, parishioners, and friends after the 8 and 10 am Masses. Come a tour our school and meet the wonderful teachers from 11 am until 2 pm. Don’t forget to stop in the Banquet Room and view the wonderful Science Fair projects that were designed by our junior high students. And this is only Sunday!
The National Catholic Education Association gave us the theme of Learn, Serve, Lead, Succeed. St. Mary School Chardon took it one step further. We are focusing on the theme of Every Day Heroes. Come see all of the family heroes our students wrote about in the collage display in the Church Gathering Space. We also have a number of assemblies planned for our students. University Hospital is coming to present mini assemblies to grades Pre-K – 5 entitled Every Day Heroes – Standing Up for What We Believe. Jasmine Dragons has a presentation ready for all of our students this week. Our Junior High is planning a STEM- A-Val patterned after a carnival – but full of STEM activities for our younger students. We have a number of dress down days planned and are collecting items for charitable organizations, and our PTU will be honoring our teachers and staff with a delicious lunch that they will all enjoy together. It is quite an exciting week!
Thank you to all of our parents for choosing Catholic education for their children. I know it is a choice that brings financial hardships. But you are making a life investment in your children! Thank you to our parishioners for supporting our Catholic school! Your support brings a vibrancy to both our school and parish. Thank you to our teachers for their dedication and self-sacrifice. Our students are blessed by your presence daily.
