This coming week is filled with wonderful opportunities to enjoy the little things in life. We begin with our annual Band Christmas Concert at 7 pm in the school cafeteria. Both Beginner and Advanced Band members have been practicing very hard to polish their pieces for this first performance of the year.
Our school community will attend Mass on Tuesday at 9:30 am (notice the time change) in honor of the Feast of the Immaculate Conception. This is a holy day of obligation. There will not be Mass at 9:20 am this Friday.
Once again our Student Council members are organizing an outreach for Womankind. They are hosting a Dress Down for a Dollar on Wednesday, December 9th to help collect money for this organization. This is an optional event for our students, but any donation is greatly appreciated!
The same day after school, St. Mary School is hosting a diocesan in-service for teachers of area Catholic schools. The topic is CODA, our new curriculum mapping format. We will meet at 4 pm in the Computer Lab.
Thursday evening, on December 10th, we will host our annual Christmas Concert under the direction of Miss Kristina Romano, our music teacher. Students in grades Kindergarten through fifth grade will perform both sacred and secular songs of Christmas. You are most welcome to join us in church at 7 pm. for this event. On this same day, our Eight Graders will travel to Playhouse Square to see “A Christmas Carol” as part of their Language Arts studies.
Our school lobby is beginning to look like Santa’s Workshop. You still have a couple of days to make your donation to Toys for Appalachia. Any new or gently used toy is appreciated. No stuffed animals please. Monetary donations will also be accepted for the fuel for the truck transporting the toys to Kentucky. Thank you for your generosity!
