Thank you to our parish and school community for your outpouring of toy donations for Toys for Appalachia! The trucks, and notice the plural in trucks, left for Grahn, Kentucky on Saturday morning. The delivery will make many, many children happy this Christmas, and the parents feeling blessed and not forgotten! Thank you for your generosity!
In addition, the school collected $650.10 from the students who did chores to earn the money. We coupled this with the matching gift of $500 from the Ohio Catholic Credit Union and sent the Grahn Community a total of $1,150. 10! The community will use this cash to pay for electricity during the cold winter months in the community center and put some toward a much needed new roof. Our students did an outstanding job working for the much needed funds. Thank you to all!
We invite everyone to our annual Christmas Concert to be held on December 15th at 1:15 and 7 pm in the church. The students in Grades K-5 have been preparing seasonal songs – both religious and secular for this occasion. Miss Kristina Romano has been directing the children and teaching them both words and accompanying movement. This event will truly put you in the Christmas spirit! If you cannot attend, G-T. V will be taping the concert and running it on their station during the weeks to come.
On Wednesday the faculty and staff will participate in a professional development session hosted by PSI Inc. This is the company we employ to hire our support staff. Dr. Karen McKelvey will speak to us about identifying stress, anxiety, and depression in our students in the classroom. More and more students are experiencing these feelings in their everyday lives. We as educators, strive to do everything we can to help them cope and provide them with strategies to use when they are feeling overwhelmed.
Friday, at our all school Mass, we will thank Father Kawalec for his service to our parish and school. Father has spent many hours teaching in our classrooms, hearing confessions, and celebrating Mass. We will miss his wisdom and gentle manner! Our school community sends our best wishes on his new appointment. Our prayers and good thoughts will accompany you on your new journey. The Holy Nativity Parish is blessed to have you.
Joyfully in Christ,
